Ohio State Troopers Association
The Ohio State Troopers Association (OSTA) was formed in 1995 to address the need for enhanced democratic processes, accountability, and service provision within the representation of troopers' interests. Since then, OSTA has been committed to upholding the collective bargaining agreement and advocating for the rights of its membership to include Troopers, Dispatchers, Sergeants, Electronic Technicians, and CAD Specialists.
The Ohio Labor Council represented Ohio Troopers from 1986 until the expiration of the 1997 labor agreement. Their demands centered around greater democracy, accountability, and service from the organization representing their interests. They expressed admiration for troopers in other states who successfully represented themselves, recognizing the importance of aligning representation with their specific needs and desires. Consequently, the Ohio State Troopers Association (OSTA) was established in 1995. The OSTA secured a representation election conducted by the Ohio State Employment Relations Board and subsequently ratified its initial negotiated collective bargaining agreement with the State of Ohio in 1997. Since its inception, the OSTA has consistently delivered personalized, high-quality service, distinguishing itself as the most democratic labor organization in the state. The OSTA primarily relies on payroll dues deductions from its members for funding and is responsible for negotiating the collective bargaining agreement with the State of Ohio, ensuring adherence to the agreement, and advocating for fair treatment of its membership, which includes Troopers, Sergeants, Dispatchers, CAD Specialists, and Electronic Technicians.
